Building an MOT bay: What’s the process?

Looking to branch out into the world of MOT testing for the first time? Or perhaps you’re considering expanding your facilities with a second test bay? Regardless of your circumstances, if you’re on the hunt for a company to complete the entire installation process from start to finish, ISN Garage Assist can help.
To give you an idea of what to expect, we’ve put together a handy rundown of our MOT bay installation process.

The planning phase
The process begins with an email or phone call. However you choose to get in touch, we’ll respond promptly to arrange a mutually convenient time to complete an on-site consultation. This meeting is the perfect opportunity for our engineers to get to grips with the project and understand your precise needs - and it also gives you the chance to ask questions.

If you’re looking to add an entirely new MOT bay (as opposed to replacing an existing one), we can then provide tailored workshop layout and design advice. Our expert team will draw upon their industry experience to provide honest feedback and offer suggestions to help you make the most of your new testing equipment once it’s installed. We’ll work with you to make sure that the finished article works efficiently and is easy for your technicians to use.

Similarly, we can recommend a lift and testing equipment to suit your needs. Bearing in mind your budget, the space you have and any brand preferences, we can help you decide which equipment to go for. We can supply it too.

Design, supply and install
With the consultation phase completed, we can now get to work on the design process. Using 2D and 3D CAD software, we can visualise the MOT bay in your workshop. Once you’re happy with the design well manage the bureaucracy and time-consuming process of your VTS application – it’s a burden we handle day in, day out, liaising between you and the DVSA. Then, all that’s left to do is to arrange the installation.

We’ll deliver the equipment you choose, install it all and set it up for you, ensuring you’re familiar with each and every feature. And that’s not all we do - we can also provide ongoing support, servicing, maintenance and repair of your equipment, ensuring you remain DVSA compliant and keep downtime to a minimum.
