The importance of Garage Services for the automotive industry in 2021!

Garage services have always been an integral part of the automotive industry – even though it is not the most glamourous or big money maker within the sector, it has always been working away in the background producing great results for the UK economy.

Garage businesses have had to adapt more than ever over the last twelve months to ensure vehicle owners stay safe on the roads. And with little interruption to proceedings (even with nationwide lockdowns) the importance of garage services should not be underestimated – especially in the current climate!

More and more vehicles are in need of servicing - but why?

Unprecedented Decline in New Car Sales...

Year on year (2020 vs 2019), new car sales have decreased by nearly 30% due to the ongoing pandemic. In fact, new car sales have been at their lowest for more than 16 years.

Clearly, vehicle owners are taking a stand by choosing to keep their old car. And now that more companies are offering ‘working from home’ opportunities, people are driving less and don’t see the need to upgrade.

However, older cars will need more periodic servicing and, of course, the annual MOT that's where you come in!

Many car manufacturers offer free servicing for a new purchase, it is a no-brainer for vehicle owners to take advantage of that offer. But the shift away from new car purchases means car owners now have the opportunity to choose where they get their vehicle serviced; meaning more local garages will be called upon to service and repair vehicles.
