Decelerometers now added to MOT Connected Equipment!

Following on from the introduction of connected Roller Brake Testers in October 2019, the DVSA has now announced the second cut-off deadline for the next piece of MOT equipment.
Connected decelerometers will officially be on the mandate from 1st February 2020.
Working closely with decelerometer manufacturers, the DVSA has been able to develop the software that will allow these products to connect to the MOT testing service.

What does this mean for you?

As with the roller brake testers, the DVSA will only approve new applications for testing facilities if they include an approved model of connected decelerometer brake tester from this date.
This change is only required for class 3, 4, 5 and 7 testing lanes at the moment.

Anybody looking to update their current MOT equipment in existing stations must also ensure they follow the connected route.

Poor connection?

If your roller brake tester is out of action, you have 2 days in which it can use your decelerometers within the car to collect the deceleration data, as it's taken out for a drive - your decelerometer can then be connected to a PC when the car gets back to the garage, and data sent over to the DVSA.
